Dr. Sara Feldman has been working in the area of child and family services for more than 20 years. Her clinical career began in New York City, working with behaviorally disordered children and their caregivers. That experience inspired her interest in learning more about effective approaches to working with vulnerable children and families.

During her 17 years with Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, Dr. Feldman’s research focused largely on the implementation of clinical models and other service programs in child welfare and human service systems. That work allowed her the opportunity to study best practices in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, and behavioral disorders in children, adults, and families. She has led seminars around the country that focus on the application of an evidence-driven, methodical approach to problem-solving – not only for individuals and families, but for human service organizations as well.

Dr. Feldman has published peer-reviewed articles, co-authored book chapters, and presented nationally on such topics as the impact of evidence-based interventions on child and family outcomes; decision-making styles; non-traditional approaches to family permanency and adoption; and, the applicability of an evidence-driven approach to problem solving.

Dr. Feldman holds a Master of Social Work and Doctor of Philosophy degree from Columbia University in the City of New York.  She is also a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance.

When she's not working with children and families, Dr. Feldman enjoys hanging out with her family (who, of course, do not call her Dr. Feldman...), playing guitar, tossing the frisbee for her dog, and practicing yoga.
